Commercials Online - just one more

KFC Zinger Crunch Salad - Call CentreContinuing on from my previous post about commercials online, here’s just one more that I can’t believe I missed off my list.

For those that don’t know, this ad is one in a series where people sing about the product they’re selling, namely Kentucky Fried Chicken. This one is without a doubt the best one in the series so far, but is more notable for receiving a record number of complaints from parents of impressionable young children.

I only wish I could show you the KFC - The 99p Mini Fillet - Can I Have A Bite? ad too, but you have to pay to see this one. It’s up to you. :(

I used to be a musician

24 May 2005 In: Family

I used to be a musician and quite a good one too. The highlight of my musical past, without doubt, was the performance I gave at London’s Royal Albert Hall in accompaniment to trombonist Don Lusher. But even memories of the simpler things are just as vivid; like an impromptu duet, the nerves of a competition, or catching my little brothers humming the bass line to a tune they would never admit to knowing. (The one I’d been practicing religiously all month.) Read the rest of this entry »

Molly started up a fun discussion over at molly.com about peoples favourite TV commercials. I enjoyed watching them so much that I’ve compiled them into a list.

Without a doubt my favourite is Volkswagens Singing in the Rain although Oranges Darth Vader does come a very close second. What’s yours?

Internet Explorer improvements come to light

27 Apr 2005 In: IE7, Microsoft

Internet Explorer improvements come to light. Microsoft has confirmed that Internet Explorer 7.0, due for beta this summer, will include improved support for two key Web standards — Cascading Style Sheets and PNG graphics. For years, Web developers have protested that support for both CSS and PNG is buggy or inadequate in IE.

Other rumoured enhancements are tabbed browsing, support for international domain names (IDNs), a built-in news aggregator and a simplified printing tool. MSN has recently begun testing a RSS aggregator. Microsoft is reported to be planning some implementation of CSS2, but is unlikely to use the full World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standard.

Microsoft has said IE 7 is to be above all a security release, with any other enhancements on the back-burner.

Rumoured security changes include running the browser in reduced privilege mode, no cross-domain scripting access, a better SSL user interface, and integration with Windows AntiSpyware.
