Web Design. Web Production.
You know your site has made it when … it turns up in its very own song. Stefan (of FlashComGuru fame) also runs a cam chat site called Ameegos.com. One of the users has wriiten a song about the site and its users. You’ll appreciate it best if you know the people who hang out there (day after day) but even without this it’s pure quality!

And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s now a blog about the site too:

Newspapers all run on complex column grid systems. Websites are really no different. Paul Evans has published a list of the most common column structures you’re likely to use when designing a web site, each with a useful, quick reference diagram.

swfIR is a new progressive enhancement technique utilising JavaScript and Flash to give you an assortment of visual effects to apply to any or all images on your website. It scans through your page and adds some new flavour to standard image styling.

I enjoy playing around in Photoshop so it’s probably something I wouldn’t use on my personal sites but I can certainly see the advantage of using this on a clients site to embellish images uploaded through a CMS. Not only is it simple to use, but it’s also simple to deploy.
It’ll be very interesting to see how this develops and what new effects are added to the tool.
Finally! A solution for creating square corners on your website. You’ve probably read countless tutorials on how to make rounded corners, but a simple, elegant solution for creating square corners has yet to emerge.
I’ve finally found time to incorporate a Flickr feed into the sidebar of my blog to show the 4 most recent photo’s that I’ve uploaded to my account on Flickr.com.
I should warn you, my photography’s not that great. I opt for quantity of photos over quality in the hope that the law of averages will throw me a half decent snap every once in a while. Don’t be fooled if you occasionally see a pic that impresses you. There was never a deliberate effort, and I never have time to touch them up in Photoshop either - just know that it’s all down to the camera and luck.
I’ve added a few more sites to my list of favorite links too. Be sure to check them out.
